Navigating the World of 3D Imaging
Dr. Peter Green
Session Description: Incorporating CBCT into the dental practice opens the doors to enhanced diagnostic and treatment planning capabilities. This course will provide a strong foundation in basic principles of CBCT technology, applications for 3D imaging in the dental office, tips for reviewing CBCT scans, common CBCT findings, and medicolegal consideration.
Educational Objectives:
- Review basic principles of CBCT technology. Indications for 3D imaging, common artifacts, and radiation dose will be discussed.
- Discuss benefits of 3D imaging for different clinical applications and review potential pitfalls for2D imaging.
- Identify anatomic landmarks in CBCT.
- Develop a roadmap for reviewing CBCT scans.
- Learn about incidental findings in 3D imaging. Normal and pathological findings in the jaws, sinuses, and surrounding soft tissue will be discussed.
- Discuss ethical and medicolegal considerations of 3D imaging in dentistry.
Credit Hours: 4
